New Delhi: The Associated Journals Limited (AJL), a company founded in 1937 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, announces the launch of the Hindi Weekly, Sunday Navjivan.
Navjivan, a leading Hindi newspaper was first published by the National Herald Group in 1947, just after Independence at the instance and with the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi, as he used to publish a Gujarati as well as Hindi newspaper under the same title. Navjivan, inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, lent its voice to nation building, promoting world peace, rationality and scientific temper.
Sunday Navjivan in print is available from October 14, 2018. The company also operates the Hindi Digital website www.navjivanindia.com which was launched on August 28, 2017.
The Company had appointed senior journalist Smt. Mrinal Pande as Group Senior Editorial Advisor on March 20, 2018. She has earlier served as Editor of Saptahik Hindustan and later as Group Editor of the Hindi publications of the Hindustan Times house. She was India’s first woman editor of a (major multi edition) Hindi daily and also group editor to all Hindi publications of The Hindustan Times group for nearly a decade. She is the author of several books in Hindi and English. She was awarded the Padma Shri for her services as a journalist and also received the Red Ink Award from the Mumbai Press Club.
On the launch of Sunday Navjivan, Shri Motilal Vora, Chairman, AJL said, “The launch of the Hindi Weekly, Sunday Navjivan, is yet another landmark for the Group and expressed his hope that the newspaper will soon make a mark for itself.”
On the launch of Sunday Navjivan, Mrinal Pande, Group Senior Editorial Advisor, said, “Sunday Navjivan will articulate the views of the people at large and will be a platform for modern, democratic, just, equitable, liberal and socially harmonious views that are free of sectarian strife. Sunday Navjivan will ensure that the nation and society regain the basic ingredients of democracy like, freedom of speech and expression, the right to dissent, so essential for democracy and the advancement of human civilization.”
On the launch of Sunday Navjivan, Zafar Agha, the Editor-in-Chief, said, “At a time when most mainstream media are busy amplifying only one point of view, Sunday Navjivan will be a platform which will encourage a plurality of views besides publishing news blacked out by others.”
