Mumbai: Medanta, a super-speciality hospital and ranked the Best Private Hospital in India by Newsweek for six consecutive years, has unveiled “Jaanta Hai Medanta”, a movement dedicated to raising awareness and driving action against cancer. The initiative emphasizes Medanta’s commitment to healing, hope, and humanity, aiming to transform awareness into actionable care.
“Jaanta Hai Medanta represents a deep understanding of every battle against cancer, reminding every cancer patient and their families that they are not fighting alone: because everything that they are going through, ‘Jaanta Hai Medanta’ – a reminder that Medanta truly understands patients’ struggles and walks beside them at every step of their journey,” the hospital said in a statement.
The movement leverages cutting-edge technology and Medanta’s team of expert medical professionals to promote early detection and meaningful engagement. Each month, the initiative will spotlight a different type of cancer, including breast, oral, prostate, thyroid, colon, pediatric, uterine, cervical, ovarian, liver, lung, and brain tumors.
Kicking off with breast cancer awareness, the campaign encourages women to adopt monthly self-examinations through the short film “Banno Ki Rasm”, which reimagines the self-breast exam as a tradition of strength, self-love, and care passed down through generations. The film has already crossed 3 million views on social media.
Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer, Cancer Care, Medanta Gurugram, said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India and accounts for a significant share of cancer-related deaths, largely because over half of the cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. Awareness, monthly self-examination, and timely medical consultation can save countless lives. Through Jaanta Hai Medanta and initiatives like Banno Ki Rasam, we want to normalise conversations around breast health and empower women to adopt self-check as a routine practice with confidence.”
The hospital has also released a doctor-led video demonstrating self-breast examination in three simple steps, under three minutes, to simplify the process for women across India.
Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta, added, “At Medanta, healthcare goes beyond treatment—it is about awareness, empathy, and prevention. Jaanta Hai Medanta is our commitment to stand with communities in their fight against cancer, to break stigma, and to empower every individual to take charge of their health. Through this initiative, we aim to transform awareness into action, creating a culture where early detection and self-care become a way of life.”
As part of the initiative, Medanta will also launch “Aao Dekho Seekho” kiosks — interactive spaces where women can learn, watch, and practice self-breast exams on simulators under expert guidance. These kiosks provide a safe and private environment to learn the correct technique and understand the importance of regular checks.
Additional activities include community activations, sports-based events, survivor meets, and grassroots campaigns in rural areas, collectively engaging over 100 communities and 5,000 families, normalizing conversations around breast health and early detection.
