Amazon dethrones six-year leader Dell to become India’s Most Trusted Brand: TRA’s Brand Trust Report 2026
Share Share ShareShare

Mumbai: TRA Research has released the 15th edition of its annual Brand Trust Report (BTR) 2026, ranking India’s 1000 Most Trusted Brands. In a significant reshuffle at the top, Amazon has emerged as India’s Most Trusted Brand for 2026, surging 11 ranks from 12th position last year to claim the No.1 spot.

In doing so, Amazon dethroned Dell, which had held the top position for six consecutive years and now ranks second. Honda (Motorcycle Manufacturer) climbed two places to secure third position, while LG (Televisions) recorded a 13-rank jump to claim fourth place nationally. Titan Company (Watches) completed the Top 5, moving up two ranks.

Further down the Top 10, Sony (Televisions) stood sixth despite a marginal two-rank dip. LG (Refrigerators) moved up three places to seventh, while LG (Washing Machines) emerged as one of the biggest gainers, soaring 30 ranks to eighth position. Vivo (Mobile Phones) made a notable 48-rank leap to enter the Top 10 at ninth position, and Flipkart (Online Retailer – Diversified) rose 24 ranks to close the Top 10 at tenth.

The report also reveals emerging geographic trust patterns. Mumbai has emerged as India’s “Trust Capital,” hosting the highest concentration of top-ranked brands across Financial Services, Manufacturing and Automobiles, followed by Bengaluru as a strong technology and digital ecosystem hub.

Indian brands dominate the Top 50 with 27 entries across automobiles and financial services. The United States, with six entries, is led by Amazon’s rise to No.1. China also has six brands represented, driven by strong gains from Vivo (#9) and OnePlus (#32), which recorded a 103-rank surge. South Korea’s five brands demonstrated strength through LG’s triple presence in the All-India Top 10 across Televisions (#4), Refrigerators (#7) and Washing Machines (#8), indicating a broader shift towards Asian manufacturing leadership.

Category leadership witnessed notable changes. Google Pay overtook PhonePe in the Digital Payments category after an 88-rank leap. Daikin dethroned Carrier in Air Conditioners with a 39-rank climb to 31st position. Usha International (Usha Fans) overtook Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals in the Fans category to secure 30th place. Muthoot Finance advanced 67 ranks to 44th position, reflecting strong gains among financial services brands.

Commenting on the findings, N. Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research said, “Trust leadership is never permanent and has to be earned every day through consistent consumer-centric actions. The dramatic shift at the top this year, with Amazon surging 11 ranks to dethrone Dell and Vivo leaping 48 positions to break into the Top 10, demonstrates how dynamic brand trust truly is. While 324 brands improved their standing, 349 saw declines and 327 either entered fresh or exited entirely – evidence that trust can be built or lost depending on brand experience, communication, and perceived authenticity. This year we see the largest brand concentrations in Televisions with 25 entries, Refrigerators with 18, and Air Conditioners with 17 – categories where technology and after-sales reliability are reshaping consumer expectations. As AI and digital ecosystems become central to brand engagement, the winners will be those who balance innovation with transparency, ensuring that technological advancement never comes at the cost of human trust.”

The 2026 report identifies Consumer Electronics as the most contested trust segment, with 81 brands spread across Televisions (25), Refrigerators (18), Air Conditioners (17) and Washing Machines (16). When combined with Technology & Digital categories — including Mobile Phones (17), Laptops (11) and Personal Computers (6) — these segments account for 15.2% of the Top 1000 brands.

Among other Top 20 performers, Whirlpool (Refrigerators) surged 50 ranks to 13th position. boAt (Audio Equipment) climbed 25 ranks to 17th, Samsung (Refrigerators) improved 17 ranks to 18th, and Kent RO Systems advanced 25 ranks to 19th. Honda Activa also recorded strong momentum, rising 29 ranks to 21st place.

However, some global majors witnessed declines. Apple iPhone fell 14 ranks to 16th position. Hewlett Packard (Laptops) dropped 32 ranks to 35th, Samsung (Mobile Phones) slipped 38 ranks to 47th, and Maruti Suzuki (Four Wheeler – Manufacturer) declined 23 ranks to 42nd.

The Brand Trust Report 2026 underscores a dynamic trust landscape, where technology reliability, after-sales service, innovation and authenticity are increasingly defining brand credibility in India’s evolving consumer ecosystem.
