Mumbai: Netflix has announced a significant expansion of its kids and preschool entertainment offering with the launch of a new interactive gaming app, fresh original content, and returning fan-favorite series, reinforcing its position as a curated and family-friendly platform.
The streaming giant unveiled Netflix Playground, a new app designed for children aged 8 and under, offering an ad-free, safe and interactive environment where kids can engage with their favorite characters through games and activities. The app is currently available across markets including the US, Canada, UK, Australia, the Philippines and New Zealand, with a global rollout scheduled for April 28.
“We’re building a world where kids can not only watch their favorite stories, they can step inside them and interact with their favorite characters,” said John Derderian, Netflix Vice President of Animation Series + Kids & Family TV. “We’re creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play. Whether it’s reuniting with Hank and the Trash Truck crew for new adventures or making a smoothie with Peppa Pig, watching and playing on Netflix can be the fun and easiest part of every family’s day.”
The Netflix Playground app features a growing library of interactive experiences based on popular franchises such as Peppa Pig, Sesame Street and Dr. Seuss adaptations, offering activities like puzzles, creative play, and mini-games. The offline functionality ensures accessibility during travel and on-the-go scenarios.
In addition to gaming, Netflix is expanding its content slate with renewals of popular kids’ titles including Trash Truck (Season 3) and The Creature Cases (Chapter 7). A new musical series, Young MacDonald, has also been added, focusing on storytelling that promotes creativity and problem-solving.
The platform also revealed an extensive release calendar featuring new episodes and seasons of well-known titles such as CoComelon Lane, Sesame Street, and Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, alongside educational and entertainment-driven content like Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs and Ms. Rachel.
Netflix emphasized its continued investment in parental control features, including customizable profiles, maturity settings, content blocking, and viewing history tools, aimed at providing a safe and controlled viewing environment for children.
The company highlighted that kids and preschool content has emerged as one of its most-watched genres, ranking as the second-largest category on the platform between 2023 and 2025. By expanding its ecosystem across video and interactive formats, Netflix aims to deepen engagement among younger audiences while offering parents a trusted and enriching digital space.
