Mumbai: Google has released its 2025 Ads Safety Report: India, underscoring its intensified efforts to safeguard the digital advertising ecosystem amid evolving threats driven by AI advancements and increasingly sophisticated abuse tactics.
Authored by Keerat Sharma, VP & General Manager, Ads Privacy and Safety, the report outlines how Google has evolved its enforcement approach, leveraging Gemini’s contextual reasoning capabilities to identify malicious intent in real time and prevent scams before they reach users.
According to the report, Google removed 483.7 million ads and suspended 1.7 million advertiser accounts in India over the past year, highlighting the scale of enforcement actions taken against policy violations and harmful activities.
The report also presents global data, detailing billions of ads blocked and millions of advertiser accounts suspended in 2025, alongside India-specific insights. It further examines how the rise of generative AI has reshaped the scam landscape, enabling more sophisticated and harder-to-detect fraudulent practices.
A key highlight is the role of Gemini-powered precision in improving enforcement accuracy, significantly reducing incorrect actions while enabling faster and more effective identification of policy violations.
The top five policy violations in India included trademark infringement, financial services violations, copyright issues, personalization violations, and abuse of the ad network, reflecting the growing complexity of the digital advertising ecosystem.
Google noted that the ads safety landscape continues to evolve rapidly, requiring constant innovation and agility. The company emphasized its continued investments in advanced AI technologies and partnerships to proactively address emerging risks while maintaining trust in its platforms.
