Mumbai: Asian Paints has appointed Sudhir Sitapati, Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Consumer Products, as an Additional and Independent Director on its board for a term of five years, subject to shareholder approval.
The appointment, effective May 29, 2026, was approved by the company’s board at its meeting held on Friday following the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, according to a regulatory filing.
Sitapati brings more than two decades of experience in the consumer goods industry. He has been leading Godrej Consumer Products since 2021, overseeing the company’s operations and growth strategy across domestic and international markets.
Before joining Godrej Consumer Products, Sitapati spent over 22 years with Hindustan Unilever and Unilever, where he held several leadership positions across India, Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa. During his tenure, he worked across multiple business functions and markets, gaining extensive experience in brand management, business transformation and consumer-led growth.
Asian Paints said Sitapati’s appointment as an Independent Director will be placed before shareholders for approval at the company’s 80th Annual General Meeting.
The company further clarified that Sitapati is not related to any of its directors, key managerial personnel, promoters or members of the promoter group.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Sitapati holds an MBA from the institute and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with Economics Honours from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He also serves as Chair of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s FMCG Committee.
The appointment adds another prominent consumer industry leader to the Asian Paints board as the company continues to strengthen its governance framework and leadership oversight.
