New Delhi: The famous film personality and staunch Modi supporter Anupam Kher has been appointed as the new chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Apparently, Anupam Kher’s appointment comes after the exit of controversial chairman Gajendra Chauhan as his term ended in March 2017.
Reacting to his appointment, Kher said that he will perform his duties to the best of his abilities. “I feel deeply humbled & honoured to be apportioned as the Chairman of iconic #FTII. I will perform my duties to the best of my abilities,” said Kher in a tweet.
Anupam Kher graduated from National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi. He was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 in recognition of his contribution towards the field of cinema and arts.
Kher’s predecessor Chauhan was appointed as FTII chairman on June 9, 2015. Many FTII students had protested against his appointment, claiming that Chauhan was unfit for the job.
