New Delhi: As the year draws to a close, CNN-News18 has announced a special programming Glorious@75. With this exclusive line-up, the channel will take viewers on a unique journey by celebrating independent India’s achievements.
On the back of the nationwide Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav campaign, CNN-News18 has planned five special episodes highlighting milestones in the last 75 years. Shot in documentary style, the programming will be led by senior anchors and editors such as Shreya Dhoundial, Marya Shakil, Maha Siddiqui amongst others.
The programming will be as follows:
Ep 1: The Defence Milestones
Presented by veteran anchor Shreya Dhoundial, the episode will cover developments on the defence front. From wars to surgical strikes and milestones in indigenous war equipment, the programme will cover the advancements of India’s defence sector right from budget to progress in technology.
Ep 2: India on the World Stage
Covering India’s evolving role at the world stage, the programme will focus on all things foreign affairs. From diplomatic relations with global leaders to bilateral ties, CNN-News18 Foreign Affairs Editor Maha Siddiqui will highlight marquee developments such as recently convened QUAD summit, nuclear deals and economic liberalizations
Ep 3: The Domestic Achievements
Renowned political journalist Marya Shakil will focus on India’s progress at the home front. The episode will cover vaccination drives for a billion people, space missions and other areas where the country has made advancements.
Ep 4: The Cinematic Achievements
India’s story is incomplete without cinema. The special programme will cover India’s cinematic journey since independence including the evolution of Indian cinema and its growing prominence across the world. With popular entertainment editor Shilpa Rathnam, the show will cover movies, celebrities, scripts and all things related to cinema.
Ep 5: The Sporting Achievements (31 December 2021)
A billion people and a billion hopes and dreams – that’s the feeling Senior Editor Shivani Gupta will be bringing through this episode on sports. From Cricket World Cup wins, Olympic wins to profiles of world champions like Abhinav Bindra and Neeraj Chopra, the episode will a perfect display of national caliber of Team India.
The array of programming on CNN-News18 will comprise engaging small formats and exclusive interviews to keep the information and entertainment quotient high.
