Horus Music India has collaborated with Liverpool’s Sound City – UK’s leading independent festival for new music, on their Guesthouse Live platform to feature Chennai-based rapper Nigavithran putting him on the world map.
Nigavithran is an independent artist signed with Horus Music India. He is known for his politically-charged songs and recently released his new album 82 D Block. A live stream of his performance was broadcasted through the Guesthouse global community which is dedicated to discovering and curating quality performance from emerging global talent.
At a time when live events were not taking place due to lockdown, Horus strive to create valuable opportunities for our artists, to drive audience growth. With music consumption shifting drastically in recent years and even more so during the global pandemic,2020 saw 139 billion streams within the music market. Horus Music artists enjoyed a 400% increase in streaming as people turned to music to get them through lockdown. At the end of 2020 Horus’ sister company Anara Publishing worked closely with Bangalore-based Indian Folk/fusion band Swarathma signing off on one of their biggest sync licenses yet with “KhulJa Re” being chosen by Apple to launch their online store in India.
Horus teamed up with Anara Publishing to bring a series of Instagram Live sessions titled ‘Music Publishing Simplified’ to the independent artists of India.
The series kicked off on Horus’ Instagram channel February 15th with a session entitled Music Publishing vs Music Distribution which was incredibly well received by the independent market.
