Mumbai: In a significant leadership move within India’s marketing and media landscape, Shagun Seda is set to join Apple India as Head of Marketing Communications, according to industry sources.
Her transition comes shortly after her departure from JioStar, where she served as Senior Vice President, leading marketing creative strategy and communications. Seda had been closely involved in defining the brand architecture of the newly formed entity that emerged from the merger of Viacom18 and Star India—a joint venture backed by Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company.
During her tenure, Seda played a central role in steering communication strategies across a vast portfolio spanning sports and entertainment. Her work covered some of the country’s most high-profile properties, including the Indian Premier League, ICC tournaments, Pro Kabaddi League, Wimbledon, and the Olympic Games. She also drove large-scale audience engagement initiatives, blending cultural moments with digital innovation.
Among her notable contributions was the marketing push behind IPL 2025, which recorded one of the highest viewership milestones in the league’s history, nearing a billion viewers across platforms. She also led campaigns around immersive experiences such as the livestream of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour in India, alongside digital-first religious and cultural broadcasts that expanded connected TV engagement.
Seda joined Viacom18 in early 2023, prior to the Star merger, after a prominent stint at Netflix India. As Head of Brand, Film and Series Marketing, she was instrumental in sharpening the platform’s local resonance, driving impactful campaigns for globally popular titles like Money Heist and Stranger Things.
Her earlier career includes leadership roles at top creative agencies such as DDB Mudra Group, TBWA India, and MullenLowe Lintas Group, where she built a strong reputation for combining storytelling-led creativity with business impact.
