Chennai: Marking the end of nearly three decades of leadership, Sridhar Ramanujam has announced his departure from BrandcomPR, the communications firm he founded and led as Chief Executive Officer.
The move brings to a close a 28-year journey during which Ramanujam built BrandcomPR into a prominent regional player, particularly in southern India. The agency operates within the larger Madison World network, led by industry veteran Sam Balsara.
In a note shared on LinkedIn, Ramanujam framed his decision as a timely transition, pointing to the company’s stable leadership structure and continued growth momentum. He indicated that the current management team has already been steering the organisation in recent years, while he had gradually stepped back from day-to-day involvement.
Reflecting on his tenure, Ramanujam underscored the role of long-standing client relationships in shaping the agency’s trajectory, noting that several partnerships have endured for decades. He also acknowledged the contribution of employees—past and present—highlighting how many former team members have gone on to build successful careers while continuing to carry forward the agency’s legacy.
Over the years, BrandcomPR has expanded its footprint across southern markets and developed a diverse portfolio of brands, positioning itself as a key communications partner in the region.
While Ramanujam has not detailed his next move, he hinted at future plans currently in the works, suggesting that more clarity on his next chapter will emerge in due course.
His exit comes at a time when leadership transitions across independent and network agencies are increasingly being shaped by succession planning and evolving organisational structures, particularly within integrated communications groups.
