Chandigarh: Rabindra Narayan, popularly known as the Father of Punjabi Satellite Television, has stepped down as President and Managing Director of PTC Network after nearly two decades at the helm. The veteran media leader, credited with transforming Punjabi-language broadcasting, is now preparing to launch a global media conglomerate that will take Punjabi voices to new frontiers.
Narayan’s next chapter will focus on building a cross-platform powerhouse rooted in Punjabi culture but driven by cutting-edge technology and AI-led content creation. The venture—details of which will be unveiled in the coming weeks—is expected to span television, OTT, digital platforms, live events, and film production. Industry observers say it could disrupt the Punjabi media ecosystem, bringing global scale, fresh investment, and top-tier talent into the fold.
Reflecting on his journey, Narayan noted that PTC Network was “never just a job—it was a mission.” Under his leadership, the network grew into the most-watched Punjabi broadcaster, airing Gurbani from the Golden Temple, trusted news, and popular entertainment and talent shows that reached audiences across India, North America, and beyond.
“Together with an extraordinary team, we built six channels, delivered many global firsts, and gave Punjabi voices a global stage,” Narayan said. “The love of viewers, the support of colleagues, and the trust of the Punjabi community worldwide gave me the title of Father of Punjabi Television. That love is now the fuel driving this new global dream.”
With more than three decades in the industry, Narayan’s move marks a new era for Punjabi media—one that aims to combine tradition, innovation, and worldwide reach.
