Mumbai: Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood has partnered with emotional support platform GetCompanion to spotlight the growing issue of loneliness in India, launching an awareness initiative aimed at encouraging conversations around emotional well-being and human connection.
The collaboration comes as loneliness increasingly affects people across age groups and professions, despite greater digital connectivity. Through a recently shared social media video, Sood highlighted how loneliness often remains unnoticed among senior citizens, students, professionals, entrepreneurs and others who may appear successful outwardly but struggle emotionally.
GetCompanion, a technology-led platform focused on emotional support and trusted human companionship, said the partnership aligns with its mission to make meaningful companionship more accessible while reducing the stigma around loneliness.
Speaking about the initiative, Sonu Sood said, “I’ve always believed that the greatest support we can offer someone is our time and our presence. Today, despite being more connected than ever through technology, many people continue to struggle with loneliness. Sometimes, you don’t need solutions; you just need someone who will listen. When I came across GetCompanion and its vision, I felt it was an initiative that genuinely addresses a growing need in our society. Together, I hope we can encourage people to check in on their loved ones, reach out to those who may be feeling alone, and remind everyone that no one should have to face life’s journey without a companion.”
Shradha Chaturvedi, Founder & CEO of GetCompanion, said, “Loneliness is one of the most under-discussed challenges of our time, yet it affects millions of people every day. We are grateful that Sonu has chosen to lend his voice to this cause. His belief that emotional support deserves equal attention aligns closely with our mission of making trusted companionship accessible to those who need it most. Together, we hope to encourage more conversations around loneliness and inspire people to be present for one another.”
According to the company, the partnership marks the beginning of a long-term awareness campaign focused on normalising conversations around loneliness and emotional well-being. The initiative will leverage digital campaigns, storytelling and community engagement to encourage empathy, strengthen social connections and reinforce the importance of being present for those experiencing emotional isolation.
