Netflix unveils an exciting slate of series, films, and games for 2025

Mumbai: Netflix is setting the stage for an electrifying year ahead, unveiling a diverse lineup of upcoming films, series, and games at its annual showcase event at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. The event, which was live-streamed across 12 countries, featured appearances by industry heavyweights such as WWE superstars CM Punk and Rhea Ripley, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, Ben Affleck, John Mulaney, Tina Fey, and the Duffer Brothers.

“No matter what you’re looking forward to this year, there’s no way to be completely ready for what’s next on Netflix,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer. She emphasized Netflix’s commitment to delivering a wide array of entertainment, stating, “With more than 700 million people watching, we can’t just be one thing. We need to be the best version of everything.” Bajaria also predicted that 2025 could be Netflix’s biggest year yet.

Major Highlights from Netflix’s 2025 Slate

New Films to Watch For:

Frankenstein – A long-anticipated adaptation from Guillermo del Toro, a project 50 years in the making. “Over the decades, the character has fused with my soul in a way that it has become autobiography. It doesn’t get more personal than this,” said del Toro.

RIP – A gripping crime thriller starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Affleck described it as “a really fun, engaging ride that keeps you guessing.”

Comedy That Delivers:

The Four Seasons – Tina Fey helms this adaptation of the 1981 film by Alan Alda. “We were able to assemble a cast of beloved comedy actors that could create the same warm, human vibe of the original,” Fey shared.

Expanding Unscripted Entertainment:

Netflix will introduce new reality and performance-style programming, including:

Building the Band – A behind-the-scenes look at the creation of a music group.

Million Dollar Secret – A social experiment with high stakes and unexpected twists.

Bajaria also announced an interactive feature that will allow members to cast live votes directly from their screens, opening up new engagement opportunities.

Expanding Live Events:

Beyond its current partnerships with WWE, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the NFL on Christmas Day, Netflix is amplifying its live programming, including:

TUDUM 2025 – Streaming live from Los Angeles on May 31.

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney – A brand-new weekly late-night show premiering live on March 12. “We will be live globally with no delay. We will never be relevant. We will never be your source for news. We will always be reckless,” Mulaney quipped.

Prestige TV Returns

Netflix is also doubling down on high-quality, star-studded television with upcoming titles such as:

Death by Lightning – A new project from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Zero Day – Featuring Hollywood legend Robert De Niro.

Black Rabbit – Starring and executive produced by Jason Bateman and Jude Law.

The Beast in Me – A thrilling drama with Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys.
