Netflix unveils the gripping trailer of Tamil Film ‘TEST’

Mumbai: Netflix is set to captivate audiences with its upcoming Tamil original film, ‘TEST’, a high-stakes drama that delves into the intertwined lives of a cricketer, a scientist, and a teacher, each facing a defining crossroad. Helmed by debut director S. Sashikanth and produced by YNOT Studios, the film premieres on April 4.

The newly released trailer offers an intense glimpse into a story where ambition, relationships, and personal struggles collide. Featuring a stellar cast—including R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth, and Meera Jasmine—the film follows Saravanan (Madhavan), Kumudha (Nayanthara), and Arjun (Siddharth) as they navigate life’s toughest choices.

‘TEST’ is not just a sports film—it’s an exploration of human resilience. The story unfolds through three deeply personal battles:

* Saravanan, a scientist chasing a groundbreaking discovery, struggles to balance his pursuit of excellence with his marriage to Kumudha.
* Kumudha, a teacher, wrestles between love and responsibility, caught between personal sacrifice and professional ambition.
* Arjun, a cricketer, faces the ultimate test of his passion for the sport and the choices that define his future, while his wife Padma (Meera Jasmine) fiercely safeguards their personal world.

S. Sashikanth, making his directorial debut, shared, “Directing TEST as my first film has been an incredible journey — one that tested my own storytelling limits. This isn’t just a film about cricket; it’s about the human spirit, the choices that shape us, and the fine line between victory and downfall. Bringing this vision to life with such a phenomenal cast made the experience even more special, and I’m excited for audiences across the world to witness it on Netflix.”

Highlighting the film’s powerful storytelling, Monika Shergill, Vice-President, Content, Netflix India, said, “Tamil cinema is renowned for its rich, layered storytelling, and TEST is a shining example of that legacy. The film masterfully weaves high-stakes sports drama with deeply personal family dynamics, delivering an incredibly moving narrative that puts all its protagonists to the test. S. Sashikanth makes a striking directorial debut, and knowing his vision, we were confident he’d deliver something extraordinary and universal. TEST is an unparalleled casting coup—R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth, and Meera Jasmine, each a powerhouse performer, uniting on screen for the first time. As our first Tamil original film of this year, TEST promises to be a must-watch for all audiences across India and the world.”

R. Madhavan (Saravanan) expressed his excitement, “Just as my character in TEST is dedicated to his pursuit of scientific breakthroughs, I revel in trying to bring authenticity to the roles I have the privilege to play. TEST captures the relentless pursuit of excellence and the sacrifices made to protect one’s legacy. Collaborating with this fantastic team and my bro and debut director S. Sashikanth has been an incredible journey and my experience with Netflix has always been super delightful and charmed. I cannot wait to see how audiences react to this film and to Saravanan as a character.”

Siddharth (Arjun) reflected on the intensity of his role, “Cricket has been a love, a passion, and in TEST, it becomes the very heartbeat of my character’s journey. My character lives and breathes the sport, but beyond the game, he faces choices that challenge his very core. Every decision comes with a price, and that’s what makes this journey so compelling. It’s been an honor to be part of this intense, layered story, and to have been part of it since its inception feels even more special. I am excited to show Arjun to audiences across the world.”

Nayanthara (Kumudha) shared her thoughts,“Some stories stay with you, and TEST is one of them. My character is someone who loves deeply, fights silently, and carries the weight of choices that change everything. Stepping into her world was both challenging and deeply rewarding. The trailer has just dropped, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience this journey. My relationship with Netflix continues to grow, and I am excited for viewers from everywhere to see Kumudha’s story.”

Meera Jasmine (Padma), making her onscreen comeback, expressed, “Returning to films with TEST has been an emotional and fulfilling journey. My character, Padma, is someone who fiercely protects her world, holding onto what matters most to her. Every moment on this journey has been memorable, from working with Siddharth on scenes to now seeing it all come to life. I can’t wait for audiences to experience TEST on Netflix.”

With its emotionally charged narrative, powerful performances, and S. Sashikanth’s fresh directorial vision, TEST promises to challenge perceptions, inspire conversations, and leave a lasting impact on audiences.
