Songpact expands to India to simplify music contracting for creators

Mumbai: India’s music industry is experiencing a global surge. Streaming has revolutionized listening habits, Indian artists are finding audiences far beyond national borders, and the country is now among the world’s fastest-growing music markets — with more than 185 million streamers and consistent double-digit annual growth.

However, while the music ecosystem has evolved rapidly, the legal infrastructure supporting it has lagged behind. Too many deals still rely on delayed timelines, complex paperwork, informal agreements, or costly legal consultations — often leaving creators vulnerable at critical junctures in their careers.

To address this gap, Songpact has officially launched in India with a clear mission: to make professional music contracts fast, fair, and accessible for every creator — not just the top 1%.

A New Era of Accessible Music Contracts

“Throughout my professional journey, I’ve always endeavoured to make legal assistance and guidance available to all types of creators, across different stages of their careers and economic strata,” says Priyanka Khimani, Co-Founder and Strategic Advisor at Songpact. “India is a diverse and large country, and technology is one of our biggest assets when it comes to serving the community at scale. Songpact coming to India will be an affordable, pocket-friendly solution that’ll enable artists and their teams to create, negotiate and manage their everyday contracts.”

Explaining how Songpact works, Priyanka adds, “The idea was to make the experience of creating contracts as friendly and intuitive as possible. Instead of endless mark-ups of Word documents, users answer clear, straightforward questions in-platform about the commercial terms, with easy-to-follow explainers along the way to create and negotiate a draft contract in minutes.”

Once terms are agreed, Songpact automatically generates a robust, plain-English contract based on those terms, which is then e-signed and securely stored — all within the same platform. And unlike the traditional process, Songpact is available 24/7.

Songpact is available in India through tiered subscription plans — from free-to-join with pay-as-you-go credits, to paid plans starting at just ₹1,999/month, offering users a bundle of discounted credits that accumulate over time.

India Joins Songpact’s Global Rollout

India marks the latest milestone in Songpact’s global expansion, following successful launches in the UK, Australia, and South Africa.
